How to get to Hradec Kralove?

By car

Hradec Kralove is connected by highway D11 to the capital city Prague from the west. The journey from there takes about an hour on average and is about 120 kms long. The maximum speed on Czech highways is limited to 130 kmph (80 mph). The drivers are obliged to pay a fee (310 CZK = 11.50 EUR for 10 days) for driving at highways in the Czech Republic. The vignettes can be bought at gas stations and other places and have to be put on the front window of the car before entering a highway. From Vienna, you can take the E 461 road through Brno and then in Svitavy switch for the E 442. The distance from Austrian capital to Hradec Kralove is about 275 km (170 miles). The shortest way from Bratislava is by taking the D2 highway to Brno, then E 461 and later E 442. It is 280 km far (175 miles) from Hradec Kralove. From Poland, take the E 67 road. By bus or by train

You can find the connection at http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/vlakyautobusy/spojeni/ (for the English version, click on the icon in the right - bottom corner). The bus terminal and the train main station in Hradec are located next to each other. Direct trains from Prague's main train station to Hradec go almost every hour (at XX:07) and the journey takes 1 hour 44 minutes.

By plane

Unfortunately, there is no international airport in Hradec Kralove, but you could use the airport in Prague (airport code: PRG), which is 150 km far. Prague has aerial connection with most metropolises all around the world, but mostly with European capital cities.
To get from the airport to the centre of Prague, you can get to the Metro station using one of public buses, we recommend you No.119 (Terminál 1 - Terminál 2 - Nádraží Veleslavín, journey time 15 min) or No.100 (Terminál 1 - Terminál 2 - Zličín, journey time 17 min). By metro you can continue to the main railway station called in Czech language "Hlavní nádraží" (in the case that you use the train to Hradec Kralove) or to the main bus station called "Florenc" (in the case that you use the bus to Hradec Králové). Prague Transit Company charges a fare of CZK 32 (= 1.20 EUR) for all journeys. Tickets can be bought from vending machines in the airport or in newspaper kiosks. Alternatively, you can use the direct bus service Airport express from the airport to the train main station. The cost is 60 CZK ( = 2.20 EUR) and you can buy the ticket directly from the driver.
